  1. Have you talked to Tom Forbes? Excellent journalist who has his heart in the community. This needs to be exposed.

  2. The Ringmasters, The Monkeys and The Scapegoat…The one and only international ‘GOLD COAST CITY CIRCUS’…and our rates are paying for this?

  3. Clearly in the City Administration’s own words… the system is running over maximum capacity now.

With that clear message surely the Economy Planning & Environment committee and Special Budget and Finance committees need to have better prepared for this.

If the Mayor’s agenda for this current Council was “Develop Develop Develop” flat-out for the last eight years – then where is the subsequent infrastructure to support this concept?

    John Wayne for Division 2

  4. Gold Coasters are being misled and subjected to third world like conditions with infrastructure that is not sufficient capacity to keep up with the hideous high rise and ghetto like developments that these liars are forcing upon the once beautiful Gold Coast

  5. It is important we all stay vigilant and keep a close eye on what is flowing out the rivers and creeks that flow daily towards the tourist beaches. If only to keep the Council honest, we can as a community take pictures and warn those unaware of the dangers this administration is knowingly subjecting residents to over and over. There is no question – it’s time for a big change in City Hall. John Wayne for Division 2

  6. Why have the council refused to test the samples collected by residents?

It would also be good to hear from an ecologist about the impact from the deliberate release of raw sewage during times the system is overwhelmed. Both on residents and the natural environment. I’m not sure you can call the deliberate action of preventing a catastrophic failure a success when you don’t know the impact of such actions. Not sure the residents having their homes demolished and cleaned would call it a success.

It’s extremely disappointing that instead of addressing the concerns there appears to be a level of arrogance and ignorance.

Announcing millions of dollars in new civic centres and masterplans means little when parts of the Gold Coast are covered in excrement.

  7. Council is saying they tested the “sewage water” at Hollywell in the drainage system, that looked like sewerage, saying it was fungus, yet why won’t they release in print the test results or are we just meant to take their word on the results given? As a concerned resident who has nothing to gain & who’s intention was to help make sure we are not being contaminated by our waterways am so disappointed. I even doubt most residents on the street were even aware of the muck in their curb gutters was sewerage as it didn’t smell, though one resident admitted that she had never seen anything that looked like that in the curb gutters before, and she’s lived there for years! I’ve been advised sewerage is treated with a bacteria at the processing plant so that is why it has no smell. Also why are so many of us coming down with ear infections, diarrhea and feeling so sick?

  8. All the money wasted on Shultzys cruise ship terminal concept that not even the cruise line operators want! over $1000000 spent, his Asian cultural precinct design competition $750000.00 prize money on the three finalists designs that none appear to have been used! Sky Way’s etc. etc. etc. FFS! How many millions of Taxpayer funds have been wasted by Shultzy and his Bloc of idiots in council for their ego’s! Millions of OUR dollars that could and should have been spent on sewage infrastructure and fixing areas of desperate need?

  9. Folks, my apologies. I messed up the last post and lost your comments. Would you be kind enough to re-comment. Thanks, Steve

  10. This is a very serious problem which can lead to many more especially in the medical field. Sure hope this isn’t going to be covered up untill it’s too late.

  11. Grant Pforr was away, but asked me to post this on his behalf…
Social Media on this was factual Council and you need to retract some of the comments and attacks on residents and former Councillors of the Community, who have flagged your failure by the Councillors mentioned on the live streaming.
Concerned residents have councils own water sampling which was put through a robust program. It is factual and has proven we have had numerous failures over the past 8 years.
Council needs to apologise for these put downs, so call fake news and admit it’s factual.
It’s their own testing they are calling fake. Our community is not so fooled.
As a former councillor from 2004 to 2012 and Deputy Chair of Water Futures Committee from 2004- 2010, prior to when the State took control of our water assets for a few years. I’ve view the results Steve has obtained from Council and agree, it raise serious questions and cover-ups.
I expect an apology too from the two careless councillors, for bringing my name to councils clarification without reviewing the full facts and the serious questions Steve Jeffery has been raising with them since early 2016.
They have failed in the duty of care and need to apologise.
I stand by my questioning that for the last 8 years Council has appeared to have not maintained a high enough level of upgrades in their wastewater systems.
I’d even question the Directors suggestion and ask him which is the standard capacity they build into the network, to cover such storm inundations.
Which is it Council 5 Times or 3 Times??
    Please clarify!
I also don’t need an inspection of our Wastewater Northern Treatment plants, as I was there for the opening of the Northern Recycled Plant, Councillor who had the Coombabah Plant in his Division and Chair the Coombabah Release Options Advisory Panel.
The Community Panel who assessed the timing of the deep sea release and the unacceptable option of holding pond on our beautiful South Stradbroke Island Seaway release.
I still have those reports and panels deliberations for a fact!
We’ll now consider taking this matter further to the State and Federal Ministers, if this Council and Councillors don’t come clean this week, admit their failure and neglect, before the March 2020 elections.
Our Community will stand up and say “We are angry and we are not going to stand for it anymore.”
Make your vote count at the March 2020 Elections.
    Vote the negligent councillors out.
    On behalf of Grant Pforr.
